I've recently gotten back into making aprons. I've made a lot of aprons in my lifetime. When I was in Middle school I made my first apron in my Home economics class, it was a required class back then both for boys and girls. It was my favorite class.
Then to help my then 10 year old daughter learn to sew we made matching aprons together. Then one year for Christmas I made aprons for my children who had gone off to college. When my first granddaughter came, I made her an apron using my very first apron as a pattern.
Then I made one for my second granddaughter as well.
I then made one for my son-in-law and daughter in- law using my first apron as my pattern again. After that I was really not wanting to make any more aprons but when my 3rd granddaughter was having her 3rd birthday in September, I realized she needed an apron from grandma. Tired of sewing the same apron pattern, I went searching for a cuter apron pattern and found one that I loved and went in search for the perfect material which I found.
I brought enough material to make my other two granddaughters new aprons and also one for my 18 mth old granddaughter for Christmas. I still had a lot of material leftover and when I showed my friends/co-workers that I work with they encouraged me to sell them at the store I work at and also where I sell my Jewelry Travel bags and Jewelry.
Then I had an idea for an apron for boys but I can see girls wearing these as well. ( I have a 9mth old grandson and another one coming in December) I love how they turned out and I found myself once again loving making aprons, and I don't think you can ever have enough aprons, I know I have at least three or more and I'm thinking I need a new too.
At the beginning of every year I think about a word that will be my theme and inspire me throughout the year and the word that came to me was "create". I had forgotten how much I love to create using my talents with sewing and I love starting with a piece of material and ending with a beautiful useful item that I can share with others.
I am a soft subtle woman who loves to make others happy by sharing my gifts and talents with them.
