This is my husband Chuck and I, he has always been very supportive of me and whatever my passions are. Recently I had the idea(with the help of my friends) to make and sell my favorite jewelry bag that was given to me by my childhood friend (Stephanie) over 35 years ago. I have loved and used the jewelry bag she gave me all these years and wanted to share them with others. I work in a great grocery plus store in Ashland, Oregon called "Shop n Kart" in the supplement department. It is a very unique store that offers lots of great healthy grocery items, supplements, even clothing, jewelry, rugs and crafts from all over the world and they also support local artists as well. When I talked with my boss about my idea to make and sell my jewelry bag she loved it. So I got busy making jewelry bags. Chuck designed and created this display that is above our heads in the picture. It is located in Shop n Kart above the Jewelry section in the store.
This is my original Jewelry bag, I still use it every time I go on a trip and I think of Stephanie and what a good kind friend she was to me all those years ago.
As I mentioned above Chuck is very supportive and wants to help in anyway he can. So I taught him how to clip the seams around the circle and turn them right side out. (he even found a better and faster way to do it) Then when they are ready to thread the satin ties though the castings he does that as well.
He recently went material shopping with me to help me pick out material for my new bags that are now up on my website. He was very passionate about picking out which materials should go together. We have different styles, I tend to like cutsie (I know this is not really a word but the best way I can describe it) material with cute flowers with matching, matching patterns, like polkadots and he likes the more realistic looking flowers with lots of contrast. You can probably tell in the picture above which material I picked out and which ones Chuck picked out. Anyway, right before we were ready to go he said " I want to show you something" and he showed me the strawberry material and said "I think this will make a great looking bag". I was not sold on the idea but agreed to it. While we were making them he told me that if the strawberry bags don't sell he will buy them all. l0l
I recently had a friend who I hadn't seen in a long time who was visiting her family and had seen my facebook posts and wanted to come and buy some of my jewelry bags for gifts. It was so good to see her and talk with her and catch up on how she and her family are doing. I love that my new passion is helping me reconnect with old friends and making new ones. ( I wish I would of gotten a picture of us together. The first bag she picked out was the strawberry one ( Chuck's material pick) I was so excited to tell Chuck when he got home from work that his pick was the first picked. I love how involved and invested he is in me and my projects and I'm so glad that I listened to his artistic point of view.
I am a soft subtle woman who loves to make others happy by sharing my gifts and talents with them.
